Public Educational Programs
The JACKSON HOLE HISTORICAL SOCIETY AND MUSEUM offers seasonal programs based on various historical topics. From summer through fall, excursions explore historical sites throughout the valley which occasionally include Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. Rich discussions inform participants about the cultural and natural history of our region.

From late fall through spring, the JACKSON HOLE HISTORICAL SOCIETY AND MUSEUM offers a winter calendar filled with additional educational programs, presentations, lectures, discussions, movies, and walking tours. A range of topics include:
• cultural, social, political, and environmental history
• archaeology, patterns of western migration and settlement, life on the frontier
• personal accounts from long-time residents that reflect the community’s values and local heritage

For a list of current activities, please visit the Calendar of Events.

PowerPoint Programs
The JACKSON HOLE HISTORICAL SOCIETY AND MUSEUM has two slide presentations available to groups, organizations, and meetings. The short presentation is approximately 20 minutes and the long version is approximately 45 minutes in length. The slide presentation has many historical photographs of the valley and is a great overview of the Jackson Hole history for anyone. Call at least two weeks in advance to reserve or book the slide show.

Programs

The Fall and Winter Program Series features lectures and/or hands-on programming that have common themes relating to Jackson Hole, other parts of Wyoming, western history, or collections' preservation. These programs are scheduled from late September through March. Specific dates and program topics are released in late August for the fall programs and early December for the winter programs.

A three movie series entitled
Hollywood in the Hole features films made primarily in Jackson Hole as well as other locations in Wyoming. The films are usually shown during January, February, and March each year. Upcoming year's schedule can be obtained in December.

The Book Discussion Group is an annual program sponsored by the Wyoming Council for Humanities. It features a series of books that usually relate to an overall theme for discussion. It is a very popular program and has a limited enrollment. The discussion leader is Stephen Lottridge, former Executive Director of the Community Counseling Center. The group meets on Thursday evenings during the winter months.

The annual
Old Time Christmas and Winter Celebration features an evening of storytelling and music from many of Jackson's long time area residents. Folks share tales of early Jackson winters along with holiday music. Event is held the second Thursday in December.

Potluck Suppers with a historical program take place quarterly. Local guest speakers talk about some of Jackson's colorful families and swap colorful stories. From June through September potlucks are held outdoors (weather permitting,) at a member's home. The Annual Members meeting and election is held in October. In November, our Holiday Potluck offers folks a traditional taste of turkey with all the trimmings as well as a room full of holiday cheer. There is no meeting in December, but JACKSON HOLE HISTORICAL SOCIETY AND MUSEUM members are encouraged to attend the Old Tyme Christmas program.
