Local History Curriculum Programs
Available for Grades 1 - 8

The Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum has social science curriculum projects available for the first through eighth grades. All of the curriculum programs were developed by a curriculum specialist who met over a period of time with teachers in the Jackson school district to assess classroom needs in the social science area.

Based on teacher input, JHHSM has developed some useful and fun curriculum-based learning activities for each grade that utilize the rich history of the Jackson Hole area. All curriculum meets Wyoming State Standards. Each grade's topic is highlighted in this brochure.

Binder packets for grade levels 1-4 are currently available in the libraries at Colter Elementary, Wilson Elementary, Jackson, Moran, and Kelly schools. Binder packets will be placed into Alta, Driggs, and Victor elementary schools this fall. Binders will be distributed to these same schools this fall for grade 5. The binders for the new 6th through 8th grade curriculum programs that were completed this past spring, will be made available to both Jackson and Teton Middle schools this fall.

All curriculum programs can be adjusted to fit individual teacher needs. Please call the history museum to schedule a program a minimum of two weeks in advance. Also, keep in mind, when doing your lesson planning, that although the historical society cabin is open year around; the museum is only open from Memorial Day weekend through the end of September.

Programs may be scheduled throughout the year by calling Karen Reinhart, Curator of Education & Outreach, at 733-9605 or email Karen at jhhsm@wyom.net.
