The W. C. “Slim” Lawrence library, located at 105 Mercill Avenue, contains nearly 4,000 volumes, including audio & visual items.

The library focuses on Western Americana regional history. It includes works on American Indians of the northern plains, the fur trade and exploration periods, the settlement of the West, Wyoming history, and Jackson Hole heritage. It also includes current issues of the major journals of western history and culture. Books and other printed materials are available for research. The library is non-circulating.

The staff will assist patrons using the collections of the museum, notably the documents and photograph archives. Patrons requesting that JHHSM staff research a topic on their behalf may be subject to research fees.

Photo Archive

There are over 15,000 historic photographs in the Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum photo archive collection. Photographs are available to the public for use in research, school projects, and for documentation of the valley, its buildings, and people. Visitors, professionals, and the general public may also obtain reprints of historic images for gifts, publications or films, and personal or commercial use. Reprints range in size from 5 x 7 inches to 13 x 19 inches. Please contact the Jackson Hole Historical Society for information about pricing.

Manuscript & Document Archive

Significant primary materials that support the interpretive and educational work of the organization are available to researchers. These resources include letters, diaries, personal papers, business documents and ledgers, and unpublished manuscripts. Visitors and researchers will also find brochures and other ephemera, memoirs and biographies, oral histories, obituaries, and newspapers published in the valley.
