The Book Discussion Group is an annual program sponsored by the Wyoming Council for Humanities. It features a series of books that usually relate to an overall theme for discussion. It is a very popular program and has a limited enrollment. The discussion leader is Stephen Lottridge, former Executive Director of the Community Counseling Center. The group meets on Thursday evenings during the winter months.
The annual Old Tyme Christmas and Winter Celebration features an evening of storytelling and music from many of Jackson's long-time area residents. Folks share tales of early Jackson winters along with holiday music. Event is held in early December.
Our popular Dinner Programs take place quarterly except during the summer when they are held monthly during June, July, and August. Local guest speakers talk about some of Jackson's colorful families and swap colorful stories. From June through September dinners are generally held outdoors. The Annual Meeting for Members is held in October. In November, our Holiday Dinner offers folks a traditional taste of turkey with all the trimmings as well as a room full of holiday cheer. There is no dinner program in December, but people are encouraged to attend the Old Tyme Christmas program.
We have two PowerPoint slideshow presentations available to groups, organizations, and meetings. The short presentation is approximately 20 minutes and the long version is approximately 45 minutes in length. The slide presentation has many historical photographs of the valley and is a great overview of the Jackson Hole history for anyone. Call at least two weeks in advance to reserve or book the slide show.
Our History Excursions are usually all-day adventures that educate tour-goers about Jackson Hole cultural history. These excursions have included Dude Ranch Tours, Ranchland Tours in collaboration with the Jackson Hole Land Trust, Grand Teton Lodge Company Tours, and our award-winning Windows to the Past Homestead Tours.
